How to stay on the board?

So, I really want to learn how to skateboard. It looks really fun. But every time I try to actually SKATE, the board goes to the side, or I can't keep the board in motion, or I just plain fall off.
Any tips for me?

well, no matter how hard i try, i just plain suk at skatboarding...
just put as much weight as u can on the board with ur feet with out going too too slow ;D
