That's where you put your feet if you want to do an ollie. for just regular skating your front foot(left in this pic) usually goes right over the hardware on the nose end, angled kind of diagonally toward the nose. then you use your other foot (right) to push off on the right side of the board. when you're just learning the important thing is to get your foot back on the board and keep your balance and not worry too much about exactly where it's positioned.

i am a lefty and yes that is how a lefty skates o and by the way u r alowed to take 1 of yer feet off the board to push (DUH!!!)
