ok... if u buy just a deck u r going to need to get some bearings some weels and some trunks then u need a helmet so u dont die (beleve me) ;D

just start off by getting comfortable on the board, turning, and pushing off. just skate around a parking lot or your street or whatever until you are confident that you can get around on it w/o killing yourself. then try simple tricks like manuals or ollies.
I started a thread on here called "order of tricks" for people to tell what order they learned tricks in when leaning to skate. feel free to read or post advice there
