So I'm thinking your either not jumping or your not popping and sliding right. Either pop it harder and make sure you slide your front foot up far,or just jump high as you can.

:DYo man, you're like doing a drag ollie... You're putting too much weight on your tail... When you slide your foot up your deck, put more weight there real fast and you'll even your board out level. Don't go for height if you can't get your wheels off.

does most of the vertical part come from the pop or the drag? when you jump to get your body up in the air, do you jump off your back foot as soon as the tail hits the ground or what?

well, just like most of the people, "I TOO CANNOT LIFT THE BACK WHEELS OFF THE GROUND"!! Now, i have tried to jump higher but that wouldnt work at all.... I am going to attempt what -element4life525- just explained..... Of course i do not expect for it to magically work on the first time but i will keep trying... its either that or.... i will just ask a couple of my friends who can actually ollie quiet high!

practice first off, don't just expect to step on your board and ace a set of stairs like wonder dylan. I think the most over looked and important part is popping your tail, when you pop you tail remeber, your jumping off that foot. So you'v popped the tail hard, the tail is hovering slightly off the ground, the nose is in the air, your starting to jump forward! don't try to jump in place. anyway as your board is like this just level mit out with your forward foot, or "slide your foot up". you'll move forward with the board, lean forward as you land. foot placement, and practice. you'll get it.
